Trailers Star – Warranty, Returns & After-Sales PolicyWarranty

At Trailers Star Pty Ltd, we are committed to delivering high-quality trailers and providing fair, transparent after-sales support. This policy outlines how warranty, returns, and repairs are handled, in line with Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

1. Warranty Coverage Period

Trailers purchased from Trailers Star are covered by a Structural Warranty:

  • 18 months for standard private use
  • 3 months for commercial / trade / heavy-duty use

Warranty coverage begins from the original date of purchase.

2. What This Warranty Covers

This warranty covers manufacturing defects in major structural components, including:

  • Trailer chassis and frame
  • Structural welds
  • Drawbar and load-bearing sections
  • Axle and suspension mounting points

If a defect is confirmed to be caused by manufacturing, Trailers Star will repair or replace the affected part in accordance with ACL.

3. Items Not Covered Under Warranty

While we aim to support our customers fairly, the following items are not covered as they are considered normal wear or environmental impact:

A. Normal Wear & Service Items
  • Tyres, wheels, bearings
  • Brake components
  • Lights, wiring, and consumables
  • Jockey wheels and moving parts

B. Cosmetic & Surface Finishes

Trailers are designed as working equipment, and some cosmetic changes over time are normal.

Warranty does not cover:

  • Paint fading, scratches, stone chips
  • Minor surface rust or corrosion caused by environmental exposure
  • Cosmetic imperfections that do not affect function or safety

C. Rust & Environmental Exposure

Surface rust or corrosion may occur due to:

  • Road debris or paint damage
  • Outdoor storage
  • Coastal or high-moisture environments
  • Normal weather exposure

These conditions are considered part of normal ownership and are not classified as manufacturing defects.

D. Misuse, Overloading or Accidental Damage

Warranty does not apply if damage results from:

  • Exceeding load ratings
  • Improper towing or loading
  • Accidents or impacts
  • Off-road use beyond intended design
  • Modifications or unauthorized repairs

4. Owner Responsibilities

To keep your trailer in the best condition, we recommend:

  • Regular maintenance and safety checks
  • Servicing bearings and moving parts
  • Maintaining correct tyre pressure
  • Securing loads correctly
  • Using the trailer within rated limits

Proper care helps extend the life of your trailer and maintain warranty eligibility.

5. Initial Inspection – 7 Day Recommendation

We encourage customers to inspect their trailer within 7 days of pickup or delivery.

If any manufacturing or transport-related issue is identified, please contact us promptly so we can assist early.

6. How to Make a Warranty Claim

If you believe your trailer has a warranty-related issue:

  1. Contact Trailers Star within 30 days of noticing the issue
  2. Provide proof of purchase and photos (if possible)
  3. Bring the trailer to our facility for inspection, unless agreed otherwise

We aim to assess claims fairly and efficiently.

7. Repair, Replacement & Refunds

In line with Australian Consumer Law:

  • Minor faults will generally be repaired
  • Major faults may qualify for replacement or refund
  • Repair is typically the first and preferred solution, as it is the fastest way to get you back on the road

Refunds are provided only where legally required.

8. Transport & Downtime

Warranty does not cover:

  • Transport or towing costs
  • Business downtime or loss of income
  • Indirect or consequential losses

Our responsibility is limited to the repair, replacement, or refund of the product under ACL.

9. Returns for Non-Faulty Items

If you change your mind, returns may be accepted within 7 days, provided the item:

  • Is unused and in original condition
  • Has not been modified
  • Is returned with proof of purchase

A restocking fee (up to 20%) may apply, and return freight is the customer’s responsibility.

10. Our Commitment to Fairness

We understand trailers are an investment, and our goal is to resolve issues fairly, respectfully, and transparently.

Each case is assessed individually, and we always aim to reach a reasonable outcome within legal guidelines.

11. Australian Consumer Law Notice

This policy operates in addition to rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Customers are entitled to:

  • Replacement or refund for a major failure
  • Repair or replacement for a minor failure

Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.
